This is Book One of William Godwin’s “Enquiry Concerning Political Justice and its Influence on General Virtue and Happiness.” There will be an analysis released for this book as part of episode #70 of Dean-O-Files. There are still seven more of these to come, some of which are longer.
*NOTE*
This book was written in 1793 and, as such, contains many of the bigotries of the time. There are hints of racism and anti-semitism. I believe that the arguments Godwin makes do not depend on these biases, and such related examples can be disregarded and replaced in the reader’s mind with more… enlightened illustrations.
